Has anyone repaired their peeling windshield trim yet?

C'est ma fenêtre arrière du côté passager. Je pense que cette garniture peut être cosmétique, mais je veux toujours le réparer. Des expériences ?
Je dois être plus cohérent dans le maintien de ma couverture de voiture.

Why fix? free weight reduction?

Cosmetic. The glass is sealed against water intrusion by itself.

That's the rubber sealant from the rear window .
And all the rubber from our cars need maintenance on time...and before it's too late .
That rubber from OP is completely dried out and will break further , a replacement is required in the situation.

Again...Rubber requires maintenance !

I figured it was. Should be easy to fix. It's taking itself off already. lol

The windshield trim is known to crack prematurely. I've changed two of them so far and it's one of the easier installs. The dealer will remove the windshield to install it. You don't need to. The part is cheap too.

I had to do this on my Z4MC. I started using 303 Aerospace Protectant to protect the trim molding.

Cheap and easy 15 minute DIY job.

Either trim only costs about $30 for new OEM.

Nothing here. It's pretty self explanatory. Peel out the old one, push in the new one. No clips or tabs to break.

Deansbimmer is the expert but I always though that rubber around the front roof and rear surround was "glued" on and that "glue" is not fun to try and remove before putting the new one on.

There will be some residue but nothing some adhesive remover won't nix in a jiffy.

Yeah I can tell by trying to pull on it a bit that's going to require a little more elbow grease. I'll report back post-install.

Mine came off super easy. Cleaned the minor amount of residue with some denatured alcohol.

i touched mine at a gas station when i noticed a crack and the pic in the original post was the result. mine is voluntarily removing itself.

I bought this molding for 45 and had a local shop install it for 50. Took about 20 minutes or so.

I'd recommend being extra careful to line it up properly first before removing the backing on the tape for final install. If it's a little off center the top corners (on the front windshield) won't sit exactly right. I did my m3 first and it's not perfect. Did my moms car after and got it just right. Looks a lot better on hers.

J'ai rencontré des difficultés majeures pour faire le mien. En essayant d'obtenir un coin de la nouvelle fente métallique pour s'adapter sur le bord du pare-brise, j'ai craqué le pare-brise. Mon conseil est de laisser un atelier professionnel faire le remplacement des garnitures de pare-brise. De préférence quelqu'un avec de l'expérience. Ce n'est pas aussi simple que ça en a l'air. Bonne chance à ceux qui trouveront ça maintenant ou dans le futur.
