Il y a eu une discussion sur le fait que la tuyauterie d'échappement du marché secondaire n'avait pas de bouclier thermique OEM, ce qui pourrait entraîner une usure prématurée des bottes CV arrière droite et arrière gauche ainsi que du différentiel. Donc, pour la tranquillité d'esprit et de protéger mes bottes CV et différentiel, j'ai trouvé un bouclier thermique relativement peu coûteux et facile à installer. Il y a d'autres produits que Thermotec vend qui peuvent également être utilisés pour protéger les bottes de CV et différentiel si vous voudrez peut-être voir ce qui fonctionne. Je sais que d'autres ont revêtu leurs tuyaux de céramique et d'autres ont installé des enveloppements thermiques. Je viens de trouver que c'était la solution la plus simple.

Pièces nécessaires :

1. 2 x Thermotec Clamp-On Heat Shield 1 pi Longueur, 4" Pinces- Numéro de pièce 11604 (Thermotec Weblink). Il aurait été mieux si j'avais commandé sans pinces 4 ", car bien que leurs pinces soient de haute qualité Breeze Aeroseal Clamps, ils étaient trop grands en diamètre pour mon échappement Vanguard.

2. 6 x 2,25 pouces en acier inoxydable brides de tuyau (c'est le diamètre de mon échappement Vanguard, donc le diamètre réel peut être différent pour vos tuyaux d'échappement) à partir d'Autozone. C'est probablement exagéré, mais je voulais obtenir Breeze Autoseal Military Spec Clamps mais n'a pas pu trouver de vendeur à proximité.

Outils nécessaires :

1. Tournevis ou tournevis électrique pour simplifier l'installation sous la voiture.

2. Gants *Facultatif si l'échappement est chaud

3. Jack et 2 Jackstands ou Rampes pour permettre un accès plus facile au système d'échappement.

Voici une photo de toutes les pièces / outils que j'ai utilisés:

Procédure :

1. Jack à l'arrière de la voiture et mis sur Jackstands ou Mettre la voiture sur les rampes

2. Préparer le bouclier thermique en faisant glisser les 3 pinces à travers les languettes métalliques, mais desserrer les extrémités des pinces afin qu'elles soient déconnectées les unes des autres.

3. Installer des boucliers thermiques gauche et droit en faisant glisser les 3 ensembles de pinces autour des sections d'échappement qui est juste sous les bottes CV et différentiel.

4. Vissez et fixez les 6 pinces dans une direction assurant une accessibilité facile à l'avenir.

5. Assurez-vous que les 6 pinces sont bien fixées, puis vous avez terminé!

6. (Facultatif) Conduisez pendant quelques jours et faites une inspection rapide sur les 6 pinces pour vous assurer qu'elles sont sécurisées

Espérons que cela aide ceux qui ne sont pas trop mécaniquement inclinés. Je voulais juste aider ceux qui ne connaissent pas les boucliers thermiques. Je sais qu’il y en a d’autres qui ont posté des images similaires, mais je voulais mettre cela dans la section DIY pour ceux qui pourraient ne pas le trouver facilement et veulent une procédure facile à suivre.

Nope, the clamps are quite strong and since nothing moves around, there has been no increase in any noise, harshness, or vibration. This was done soley for my own comfort because if from factory the stock exhaust had a heat shield, then it'll probably be best to do it as well. They wouldn't increase cost of an exhaust if it was uncessary.

The M3 GT4 uses heat tape on the axle back portion to protect from heat. I might have to look into this?
Very nice - I picked some up a few months ago. When the weather warms up here I am going to install mine as well.

Do you have any pictures of that heat tape wrapped portion of the M3 GT4? I'd like to take a look! :)
There seems to be a requirement to keep the heat away from the portion of the exhaust closer to the front of the car in the proximity of the driveline. Probably some more rubber components there. Pretty sure there is a radial rubber shock absorber. Does the OEM system have any shields there?
Thanks, exactly what i am looking for. And if you guys call thermo-tec directly and ask for the closest distributors thats located near you, you'll most likely get them much cheaper than purchasing them through their website. I got mine shipped for cheaper than what i would have pay for if i were to buy it directly from them before shipping.

Yes, the OEM system do have a shield there.

Yup 11600 would probably work better. Not sure if there's a difference in pricing though. It's like a $1 difference but you would get 3 military grade 4" clamps, guess you can use it for another project! I think these Breeze Aeroseal Clamps are priced around $2.50 each, so 3 of them to have around is nice! :)

Was hoping that this DIY would help out one person at least. Glad to be of help. I don't think there is advantage except that it is removable and not permanent. I feel it's easier to put and less attention needed as well as time saving compared to heat shield wrap. That's my $.02.
