vmr v710 vs avant garde m310

Which r better? I occasionally track the car, take fast turns and cruise at 140-160mph (im stationed in germany, dont hate), so i need a reliable rim... i am trying to go with a cheap option... i have jerez black e90 and i think black avant garde would look good, no?

You want a JWL/VIA approved wheel for Germany...

Of the two I would go with the Avant Garde, they are a low pressure cast vs. gravity cast. They are both priced about the same as well.

FYI, low pressure cast is the way the OEM BMW wheel is cast other than their forged wheels.

OEM casting methods are night and day from most aftermarket wheels..I have held an OEM ZCP wheel and and aftermarket cast wheel of similar size and offset... the OEM was significantly lighter indicating a stronger better quality cast

The Avant Garde 359s are within a lb of the OEM ZCP wheel. Normally I would agree with you, I have no dog in this hunt as I have the OEM ZCP wheel. As far as the VMR wheels, agree 100%. If you also think that BMW actually casts wheels then I have some land to sell you, as BBS makes the ZCP wheel for BMW and it is a low pressure cast wheel just like the Avant Garde 359s.

Yes I am aware BBS does the casting for BMW..they are in the business of designing and building cars not wheels..which makes sense and further bolster my points..honestly the only way to do better/safer then OEM is true forged wheels even more so if the car will see track duty.

on the advertisement it says that they are just as sturdy... My main concern is heat. I do drive fast here on Abahns, and would hate to have a wheel fall apart when i'm doing 180mph. Same thing with nring, I would hate the rim to fall apart while i'm doing a turn at 80mph.

My view on the big company like BBS is that you are paying for quality AND name. Not to say they bad, but I'm sure some of their rims crack and bend sometimes too. Shoot, main reason I'm looking into new rims is that my stock 18 bent (and I don't remember hitting anything that bad). Stock 18 replacement is $325 x 4 = $1300, which is not a lot more than AG, and considering it's a BBS stock wheel, it might be that u r paying a pretty penny for the name. This is my rationalizing, am I wrong? Not to say there are no better rims, but as long as they are as good as stock, I'm good...

Also, what's the difference between m310 and m359?

example: There is this company that started selling these military boots, with starting price $139, which is on par with the rest... they became very popular quickly, and the price went to $179 in 2 years. The boot didn't change, as a matter of fact nothing changed, but the demand. So if Avant Garde is a legit company, I'll give them my money.

I believe Moxie is correct - if you're in Germany aren't you required to use TUV certified wheels?

Are the AG 359 wheels, in the exact width/offset you plan on running, TUV certified for the M3?

I am registered as a USAER (it's special registration for the military), so no, I wouldn't really care about the certification (I never heard of anyone having problems).
Although it is a very good question! Any of the sponsors would like to comment whether Avant Garde are certified for M3?

Right, we don't need TUV certified wheels that I know of, but personally I wouldn't run anything that wasn't stamped JWL certified. Be sure you research. One of the venders here was claiming TUV cert on wheels (not ADV1) & the wheel manufacturer posted later the wheels were not TUV. Venders want to sell product.

You may want to get a second opinion to verify your rim is bent. Wouldn't be the first time a local tried to take advantage. Happened to us recently @ ATU. GL -

Yes i had 2 places look at it, and actually i saw it myself, its pretty bent, but i cant recal from where ,maybe previous owner did some damage and i added to it. I will ask the vender whether they are jwl certified.

Both wheels are great, you cannot really go wrong with either. Obviously we already know they're both virtually identical, so the only other difference to really compare is the construction of the wheels and/or the color they come in since they're exactly the same other than that.
