Engine Oil Sampling Procedure?

Je veux envoyer un échantillon d'huile à Blackstone sans changer l'huile. Puisque nous n'avons pas de jauge et qu'ils ne recommandent pas de prendre un échantillon au début d'un drain, pourrais-je défaire le filtre et utiliser l'huile à l'intérieur pour un échantillon? Ou vais-je faire un énorme gâchis?

J'ai utilisé un baster de dinde et échantillonné hors du boîtier du filtre à huile.

Non. Je n'ai pas essayé de le ramener dans la cuisine par la suite. J'en ai acheté un spécialement pour ça.

I just let it drain and fill the container in the middle. Makes a small mess but nothing that's not manageable.

Get it from the oil drain, during the middle. Just move quick and you'll be fine.

Read closer... "without changing the oil". I'm interested in this as well since my dealer tech forgot to get my sample at last change (and got seriously scolded by my SA). If you sample out of the oil filter housing, is that going to be accurate?

This one is from sampling from the oil filter housing. Nothing unusual compared to my samples from the oil drain.

did anyone read the OP's question? I don't think he's looking to drain the oil.

Op take from the oil filter housing, it won't make a mess at all.

Thank you sir. Ill admit I did ninja edit after the first reply . Sorry for any confusion gents.

I was able to get in touch with black stone and they said that sampling from the initial drain would be okay but make sure to note to them. But they also tell you to note if it comes from the filter as well...

Talk about perfect timing! I just got my test kit today and was wondering how to get a sample without pulling the plug.

This. Wouldnt that be preferred anyway as you would want to see the quality of the oil after it has been fully used? Wouldnt sampling oil that has been recently changed kind of defeat the purpose of the analysis?

Blackstone recommends at least 500 - 1000 miles to get a relevant sample. From my understanding there is an additional charge to test the actual quality of the oil.

There is nothing wrong with sending a sample in partway through the oil change interval; it will help you gauge how much longer the oil could stay in service. Wouldn't you rather know at 5,000 miles about coolant getting into the oil than at 15,000 (or whenever you change it)?

It's also for the OCD folks who just want to have lots of data, like me.
