So my oil filter housing was leaking. Ok. I bought oil filter housing for 2011 M3 E92 cause old one was cracked. Should be the same engine right?! So I put everything on 5 hours later after installing and torqueing everything. Cause vibration damper needs to come off and stuff. Well as I'm trying to put a deflection pulley that goes on a housing from my old housing IT WONT F*****ING FIT! WTF? :mad0260:
I guess they made different pulley for different years!? Anyways. If I order a pulley for 2011 Housing will it fit belt pattern? Or it might be off? Please help someone! Pictures attached bellow.:sigh:

Two different kinds depending on build...

Different belts too.
This is why you order parts by vin nowadays. Changes can be made mid year of a build. That's BMW for you.
Pretty sure the belt pattern differed from 2008 to 09-11. My buddies 08 was different from my 2010.

For compatibility with the 2011 oil filter housing you will need:

1. Deflection (Idler) Pulley - BMW part #11287841531
2. A/C and Power Steering Accessories Belt - BMW part #11287841529
3. Different belt routing - the belt will now need to be routed under the power steering pump and over the deflection/idler pulley.

Check out the details about the differences with pictures in this thread here.
Thanks. I wonder what would of happen if I leave the same belt and same belt pattern?

That's not limited to BMW. Pretty much every car I have ever owned has had part revisions (Ford, Acura, Audi, etc). Remember, a ton of parts are not even built by BMW.
