Check out GP Arms. Very well made semi custom handguns at competitive pricing. Made in Tennessee.

Listening to a report on the Secret Service's performance today and it makes me wonder what the hell is going on.
Ryan Wesley Routh Secret Service agent fired 6 rounds from approximately 5 feet or 1.667 yards away. . .but missed.
Cole Tomas Allen, White House Correspondents' Dinner, a total of five shots were reportedly fired by Secret Service and one from Cole Allen's shot gun. Close range....all missed. Looks like the one Secret Service that was hit with friendly fire. It seems to me that maybe our Secret Service needs to do a little competition range work like IDPA or some other run and gun. I assume they do but something isn't work right.
Unfortunately it doesn't surprise me. I've barely missed being shot twice while on duty. Once by a "SWAT" team member cleaning his gun after qualification 🤬

Did anyone see the video of the incident that was just released? It looks like the security detail was breaking down the metal detectors at the perimeter, since the banquet attendees were all through screening and in the ballroom. Everyone in that area must have let their guard down, thinking that their assignment for the event was over. The suspect popped out of a side hallway door just beyond the metal detectors that were being packed up, and charged at the officers so quickly that only one had a chance to respond as the alleged assassin ran past at might as well be called point-blank range.

The officer at the bottom left in this screen grab of mine was apparently the first to notice the charging suspect, and got off three shots while the suspect was in the video camera's view. This is his shot #2, which appears to have gone behind the suspect with his backstop being perilously close to the three officers on the far wall:

Yep, it also showed a K9 alerting on the shooter twice when he ducked into a room on the right before charging. All definitely let their guard down with most facing away from the entrance. Even the SS which is surprising!!! Maybe they have been assigned to Washington too long?

I've worked with the SS before. They were always hyper vigilant and sometimes ridiculously annoying. I don't know what's up with this crew.
Those guys have been demoted to doing background checks because they didn't vibe well with the man in charge.

I have my suspicions. It seems that lackluster people have been placed in prime positions lately…..on purpose.

When they were in the TRACON when POTUS was flying through the airspace, they were pretty lackadaisical. When I was at SLC, they weren't even in the tower cab.
Heads should roll for multiple missteps that have happened with each of the assassination attempts.

I've been in the area near POTUS (Clinton, GH Bush and GW Bush) along with Cheney. Clinton was when I was dating a woman who's apartment was half a block down from the church the Clintons would attend on Sundays. Secret Service had a perimeter about two blocks in each direction locked down. The night before there were signs warning to move your car or it will be towed if the car was parked on the street in front of the church. I heard in the early morning hours the sound of tow trucks and bomb sniffing dogs from this woman's apartment. Also, the SS sniper team had a key card that allowed them access to ex girlfriend's apartment building. I caught a glimpse of the sniper team when I was bringing the news paper for her. Dark fatigues with a super long gun bag. There were two of them heading up to the roof.

With the two Bush's, I was working at a secure government facility. The compound was locked down when POTUS arrived. No one was coming in or leaving the compound until POTUS left. In the case of GH Bush, there were magnetometers positioned at the entry points to screen any staff working at said compound to meet and greet POTUS. With GW Bush, same thing with the lock down of the compound. And movement in the building was controlled. I was there with a coworker looking to use the elevator but security stood in front of the elevator blocking our access. We were only allowed to use the elevator when POTUS cleared that area.

These security measures were done in an already secure facility with people inside holding very high security clearances.

Well i bought Allen Breakthrough cleaner and dry lube. The cleaner worked pretty well, but the lube was absolutely horrific. Left a thick white substance everywhere. Going to have to wipe down and use something else.

Cleaner worked well though.

Edit: Contacted them and they said it was normal and fine. Going to take their word for it....
I use Hoppe's 9 for cleaning, and Tri-Flow for lubrication in most cases. I've been using Tri-Flow for decades on bicycles and most firearms. I'll admit that on a couple of my cheaper guns I just spray the moving parts down with CLP and work it in, and wipe it off and go. I've got a Taurus TX-22 that has untold thousands of rounds through it and has never been disassembled for cleaning lol.

I can imagine if I was in a position like that, I would never want to go anywhere. Not out of fear, but just out of the HUGE inconvenience it would be to ALL the other people in the world just trying to live their lives.

So 10 city blocks have to be shut down just so I can let the media see me going to church so they think I believe in God??

I would feel like such a tool causing that much havoc in everyone's lives for something like that.

I remember coming home from work in VA and President Biden was visiting a local Naval Air Station. Every street including the highway was blocked off (so no opportunity to exit and go around). I sat in traffic for an hour.... the base was roughly 20 minutes from the highway and even further from where I was on the highway.

Exactly - I'd plan to just stay in my space for 4 years outside of official events. What a nightmare to put everyone thru just so I can go get my camera time.
Going to church is not camera time.

lol no you wouldn't, but it's a nice thought. What do you think about the current administration's use of vacation and resources? Would you not golf for 4 years if you liked golf?

This is why the political stuff should stay away, as stated in the forum rules. It always devolves into bickering and serves no purpose. I can get all the politics I want to suit me elsewhere, as can everyone else.

Regan would fly into Los Alamitos to not disrupt LAX traffic. Clinton got his haircut after the runway was swept, causing many arrival delays.

Our big local airport here plays host to Air Force One a few times per year, is the go-to airport for bringing in recently-captured dictators from South America, and was the parking place for Trump's personal 757 during his first term in office. The state and local police have the whole rolling roadblock drill down to a science whenever there's VIP movements taking place, and there is very little disruption to normal traffic.

There's also a plain white 757 registered to the federal government that seems to come around weekly and circle doing touch-and-go's for hours.....

I was not talking about any president in particular - I was talking about ALL of them. They all do it. I'd assume running the country would be my priority if I was stupid enough to want that job and minimize everything I could that was not essential. You have to do state dinners and have guests in etc, but everything else I would assume could wait. I'd vacation to my own home I'd guess.

But then I am that guy that grabs my money and products off the counter so no one else has to wait while I put all my money back in my wallet or purse which CLEARLY many people do not care about - so maybe it's just me.
