sygazelle wroteHow did the heater work?Mine too. '61 VW. 40HP and all fun.
One of my uncles had one in the 70`s, and the heater sucked. It was colder in the car with the heater on than outside
Dino GT wroteYou know, I don't remember. Probably sucked. How did the heater work?

I'm from SoCal, though and probably didn't use it much, if at all.

Esteban wroteToo bad you don't have a shot of your VW. Damn, 53hp. I wouldn't want to race you!Seen that pic a few times here. I’m just jealous ‘cause I don’t have a pic of mine. Mine was a ‘68 with 53hp.
You've seen this shot of my VW on here a few times because 1) it's the only pic I have of that car and 2) Due to my advanced years, I can never remember what I previously posted.
Second reason is probably a candidate for the "you know you're old when" thread.
My wife tells me I tell the same stories over again too.

You look very proud of your Bug in that pic.
PS - yeah, I could just see us now, racing down the street in our 40hp and 53hp Bugs. We'd be just a blur to the naked eye.

Dino GT wroteIt actually worked okay, at least in a moderate climate. I lived at the beach in Southern California at the time so the heater never really got tested. How did the heater work?

Esteban wroteI look proud in that photo for a really good reason. The photo was taken by a girl I had just met. It was our first date. I was on Cloud 9. No other girl had turned my head the way she did. I'll have to look her up on The Google and find out what happened to her. Wait, I remember. We ended up getting married 5 years later and we are still together after all of these years! And probably most importantly...

Regarding racing our bugs, you wouldn't have had a chance. My custom headers were so loud you would have just backed off and crawled away in fear.

Dpc2u wroteI am head over heels in love with this car -- at least the front end. But it's not available in North America and I haven't the foggiest about the price but I'm sure it's expensive. No matter -- looking is free!Wiesmann mf4
