On 14 April 1929, Monaco staged the first Grand Prix in its history, opening a chapter that long predated the Formula 1 World Championship.
William Grover-Williams won the race in a Bugatti, but the greater story was the beginning of an event that would go on to become one of motor racing’s most recognisable and enduring stages.

Here's a few more. The fastest lap time in 1929 was 2:15, the qualifying time in 2025 was 1:09.954. So cool.

In Toronto for a show and spied this while walking up to the hotel. Not the kind of car I'm used to seeing everyday. The interior was a tasteful(?) mix of powder blue, orange and white. Think Gulf livery. The orange was confined to the seat piping and a few other small details thankfully. I tried but couldn't get a photo of the interior because of the glare off the glass.

I saw this little toy this evening and stopped to get a photo. I didn't realize the owner was in it when I drove past. As I was walking up to get the photo I noticed that it was running. I didn't hear it but I smelled it... the way too rich smell of unburned gas. IYKYK. I asked the guy if he would mind it I got a photo and he replied with "By all means, go right ahead!".

You were right with Pinto. I highly doubt she had a twin-carb, tunnel ram V8 in her's though.

Nope, definitely not. Standard crappy 4-banger with the 3-speed auto, but it had more hp (86) than my VW Bug (53), but my Bug was more fun to drive.

I've never driven a VW that wasn't fun. My Golf R (top, right of the photo) is no exception, and with over 6X the hp your Bug had there's no end to the fun! I haven't tried the "Drift Mode" yet and I'm not sure I ever will... maybe when the tires are close to worn out.
