I'm going to preface that I did notice over the past year that intermittently the car struggled to start a few times. Starting it for the first time after sitting for a while it might struggle a little but then it wouldnt after that so i thought a few times hey i wonder if the starter is taking shit. Other times it would start strong. It's not my dd. It's parked for the winter with currently 65k miles. 2011 e92 comp. Bought the car in 2019 with 51k and I've never changed the battery. Yesterday I take it to my local BMW dealer for a maintenance promotion they are doing. $230 for oil change for 3 years and I can change it up 3 times. Not a bad deal considering oil and filter alone is $200 now. Anyway car starts fine. Make a stop on the way and again starts fine. Pull into the service shop to check in for my appointment and tech goes out to pull the car into the service bay. Car won't start. Cluster and idrive come up fine. Full light show like there's no issue. No battery msg no nothing that's saying hey here's an issue. No crank. No clicking even. There's nothing. They bring out a jumper battery pack. Nothing. They're all like yeah your starter is dead. Tow it back to my house to trouble shoot. I'm gearing up to replace the starter.
Couple Qs
Does this sound like starter issue? I'm gonna a start making room to get to the starter to test it soon.
I'm looking at starters on fcp euro. A Bosch reman is $190 and new original parts(which I think is Bosch too?) is $600. Anyone have experience with remains? Wondering if its worth the risk.
