I have an old doe that basically lives in my yard. Every year she has 2-3 fawns and they live in my yard for a year until she chases them off to have the next batch. They LAY in my landscaping. Like I see their ears in my windows right next to my house - sometimes up against it. Invisible Fence is your friend here. If I keep my hostas and flowers sprayed at least one a week - they won't eat them. But if I forget one week they will eat my landscaping down to the roots! IT;s a love/hate thing.............

In a tough season they'll eat anything, but mostly we've developed 'Darwin's garden' of stuff they aren't too keen on.

We get deer once is awhile outside our fence but they don't come into our yard. I don't think I have anything growing that they want. I did see a squirrel yesterday up on his hind legs reaching up to eat a flower about 8 inches off the ground. I'd never seen that before. He devoured that flower and took off before I could get my camera. I'm not sure you all want to see a picture of a squirrel anyway.

Sony a9III, with 600mm GM lens. It's like cheating.

A male American Goldfinch at the feeder. What makes this post interesting is that he's blind in his right eye and completely unafraid of my presence. I manage to scratch him on the belly and pet his back. Cute little guy. I'm only a few inches from him and he struck a pose for me.

I have dubbed my new yard buck - Brutus. He has been in the field a few times, but this day he was right outside my back door. Sorry for the crappy photo - it is a screen shot from a video I took thru the glass back door. He is pretty impressive.

Looks like a cut from fighting on his left ear!
