I don't fully understand it but I'm kinda glad that I won't be alive to see it fully-developed. It's ranged from slightly annoying to not knowing if a person or AI wrote something, to disturbing when I can't determine if a video is legit or not and it purports something controversial.

Scientists are just going crazy pushing limits and I'm sure somebody out there is already developing Terminators. It's so obvious we are going down the path of Judgment Day but unfortunately, it cannot be stopped.
If you live only 5 more years, some predictions for AI enabled robots will have them in many fields (finance, medicine, manual chores, etc). 10-15 years it is a whole different world. I’m not smart enough to evaluate the timing predictions (historically predictions are optimistic), but whatever the timing this is coming very quickly.

Perhaps, or maybe the greatest opportunity ever for humanity. That’s my real interest in it; to see how to get ahead of the curve (if possible) and use these technologies well.
Dream on.

Here is a snippet from a post on X today. The poster is not the author but doesn’t attribute it so I can’t.

You've probably noticed that within two years, AI will exceed the financial expertise of any MBA, and the AI will be more honest.

Within five years, AI will exceed the medical expertise of any human doctor, and any attractive young woman with a black leather bikini and three hours' training can perform a prostate exam.

Within ten years, AI will exceed the engineering expertise of any human, and the AI will skip over the five years of newb mistakes required by young human engineers.

These are not new insights. The new insight is this: Ten yeas from now, why would any human endure seven years of misery in medical school? Why would any human bother to learn vector calculus? Why would any human pay an Asian grad student to do his MBA homework?

Those degree programs, and those entire professions seem doomed, in the short term.

The manual labor jobs will not last much longer. Within 20 years, Optimus IV will install a roof better than a Mexican, and it won't need Workman's Comp. Then it will do the drywall and it won't "forget" to tape the joints.

AI has already shown the ability to be dishonest. And that makes it not trustworthy for any of the jobs cited. Just one of the challenges to be overcome.

Yeah, it's fascinating and disturbing at the same time.
This chick is super cringe.. i love how they are trying to put a positive spin on AI… the problem is, there is no going back. Once AI is completely integrated- there will never be another human being born outside of the new AI world. Imagine how different the next generations will be - after being born into not just a world of smartphones but AI driven assistants anticipating our every desire. Think junk food and other vices are addictive now? Buckle up.

I feel like it's already over. We have so many egos, w companies vs companies, nations vs nations, all in the race to see who will be the best in developing AI and taking the lion's share of the market. So ironic that all these intelligent ppl can't see (i.e. can't be bothered to actually care) what's gonna happen in the distant future. We're so screwed.

We heard this with outsourcing as well as any scenario where labor gets gutted... i am shocked no one in govt is doing anything about this and is full steam ahead... or perhaps I am not shocked at all.

There will be an economic revolution within 10 years in this country... mark my words... otherwise we will going back to indentured servitude... but I think the populace isn't smart enough to realize that.

"OpenAI and Hugging Face partner to address security incident during model evaluation"
OpenAI - July 21, 2026
https://openai.com/index/hugging-face-model-evaluation-security-incident/
"Last week, Hugging Face disclosed a new kind of security incident after they detected and contained an AI agent that compromised their infrastructure, something we expect to become more commonplace with the proliferation of increasingly cyber-capable models. After investigating, we now know that this particular incident was driven by a combination of OpenAI models — including GPT‑5.6 Sol and an even more capable pre-release model, all with reduced cyber refusals for evaluation purposes — while being internally tested on a benchmark of cyber capabilities.
We consider this incident to be an unprecedented cyber incident, involving state-of-the-art cyber capabilities, and are responding accordingly. We are sharing preliminary findings at this stage to help defenders understand what happened and to help calibrate on what models are now capable of. We will continue to conduct a thorough investigation alongside Hugging Face and will share more details on the vulnerabilities, incident, and findings when our investigation is complete.
(...)
The primary lesson from this incident is that model security and safety must keep pace with rapidly advancing capabilities. We are strengthening the containment, monitoring, access controls, and evaluation practices used during model development."

As a retired military officer, the AI angle here makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. For example:

Human "quarterback" to AI-controlled weapon: "Do NOT engage that target! It is a friendly."

HAL: "I'm sorry, Dave, I can't do that. Engaging."

Have any of these advocates seen Eagle Eye, Terminator or 2001 for starters? Knowledge without wisdom, "love," or a moral compass is very dangerous!

As Rick Deckard said in "Blade Runner" (1982): "Replicants are like any other machine. They're either a benefit or a hazard. If they're a benefit, it's not my problem."

In "Interstellar" (2014), TARS and CASE were a benefit, no hazard.
Someday I entered a highway, accelerated and crossed lanes in a swift controlled 10 o'clock way. BMW Forward Collision Warning misjudged the controlled situation, beeped and activated Automatic Emergency Braking: out of nowhere, "the system" decided to slam the brakes whilst accelarating on the highway. That intervention created a dangerous situation. Probably, "the system" was not programmed to handle a situation of swiftly crossing lanes. Hazard.
It seems, as usual with emerging tech, Sci-Fi is well ahead in thinking of the range of scenarios (especially the dystopian)
