Rusty Remus Removed and Replaced - E31 850i

The booger welds are truly baffling, Enough to see the battles inside the mufflers from some angles.

Had a similar experience with Remus on my E30. Maybe the best sounding exhaust I've ever had on that car, but it rusted out in less than five years.

It's almost finished.

We did put this car on the dyno after the exhaust fix but now the engine is in pieces for a complete refurbishment.

Yeah, those are booger welds for sure. Looks like they didn’t prep, didn’t purge, and just globbed it on. The fact you can see internal battle scars from the outside means heat control was nonexistent too. Functionally it’ll probably hold for a while, but it’s gonna restrict flow, crack faster, and sound like ass.

If this is a cheap eBay/Amazon muffler, par for the course. If it was sold as “custom” or “performance”, I’d be asking for a refund.
