Great car, great thread!
Disassembly begun a few days ago. Valve covers will most likely get powder coated.

Some evidence of oil starvation on the cam lobe furthest from the oil pump which isn't too bad considering the age of this engine. Lots of milkshake though, glad it didn't end up catastrophic.

So, we prevented a catastrophe or limited its damage just in time. The clutch is in some sorry state I've never seen before and the flywheel has been glazed by the rear main leaking.

Good news is that the engine and the Getrag unit are intact and will be put back together with much overdue TLC.... and perhaps with some special custom sauce ;)

I can reuse these, right. :D

We compiled the list of all we need and ordered them a week or so back. The list is very long and some of these parts are essentially the last ones on planet earth so I'm very sorry for people trying to refresh their M70 after me. Here's a snippet:

I know it's been a while as parts are hard to come by so there wasn't much to post, but we just received a set of Supersprint headers that we ordered last month as well the replacement clutch a few weeks back so things are picking up again as the engine and transmission are getting prepped to go back in the car.
