On June 6, 1944, Allied forces launched Operation Overlord—the largest seaborne invasion in history. Over 150,000 troops stormed five Normandy beaches (Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, Sword), turning the tide of World War II and beginning the liberation of Western Europe.

Bless their souls. I fear we have not learnt much.

Was there last December, quite extraordinary the size and scope of the operation. Then to think for every soldier on the front line it takes 4-9 support soldiers.

Furthermore to think we are all friends now, and who surrendered their life for.....
Went to church with a D-Day survivor. He had stories and was the friendliest, gregarious guy I've known. When asked how he was, he always answered "If I was any better, I'd have to be twins!"

Also went to church with an ex-concentration camp guard. He was pretty quiet, didn't like to talk, I completely understand, he was a nice guy.
