Small metal flakes in oil on new purchase

So recently I bought my dream spec e90. After driving it back from Houston to Atlanta, the car ran terrific with zero issues. I sent the car to get valve cover gaskets, vanos covers, and other preventative maintenance items done. The shop inspected my oil filter as part of due diligence and found small pieces of metal pictured here. 3,700 miles since last oil change (870 from the drive) so I know I drove a bit longer than I should've, especially on a 75,000 mile car. They already collected a sample and will be doing a full Blackstone analysis.

Would this warrant concern?

Not terrible. A few bits and pieces here or there--fine. I'd say an OCI of 3k to 4k should be fine.

UOA can only tell you metal content with pieces below like 30 micron? Might be a good question for blackstone on their specific ability.

Do the next oil change at 3k miles and take a look at the filter as well. Compare them to this post you did. If the metal specs increase, then something might be coming apart. Best to keep an eye on it and monitor like this.
