Yup...to-date 5.0 engine continues to perform competitively, winning IMSA races consistently.

Automotive journalists have criticized it repeatedly for being old tech, ridiculed toyota for being lazy yadda yadda. I'm in the why fix what isn't broken camp. It's a great powerplant why change it. GM has been doing the same thing with their LS/LT blocks. Basically the same engine for decades.

What they NEED is a manual trans.

If they'd just release the IS500/RCF and similar with their lovely V8 and a third pedal I'd be all over it.
