Hello, Was wondering if anyone can point me towards some information on the clutch spring delete----Procedure, initial and long-term driving impression, etc...
I have been set on going with the DCT, but after having my auto-manual in my G35 decide to not respond to me occasionally, I finally lost it and told my fiancee yesterday while back-roading it in W.Va ...
"Do not let me compromise on the M when we are getting ready to order. 6MT, F*ck this auto crap. I've had enough of the car being the boss of me." LOL.
While shopping for my Infiniti, I was dying to get the G with the 6-speed, but when trying to justify the purchase (hahahah, isn't that the never ending internal debate), stupidly convinced myself it was ok to get, as long as i had the AWD for those northeast winters. Well, the AWD isn't offered in the 6-speed, so I said, ok the auto box is reviewed with praise in this car, and was pretty happy with it on the test drive. Up until about 2 months ago, it was GREAT. Never a second guess, willing to give me 2nd at 58 or so--it maxes at around 62. For an auto, it worked, and worked very well. Now, after 18 months, I get some delays when I call for a gear, and sometimes it will revert to full auto (even when just started for the day, so its not any overheating issue) and I cant choose my own cog, unless I shut the car off, and restart it. Even then, it's highly likely to happen again, as soon as I start to push it. Now this is unsettling to say the least----imagine, going downhill into a banked left sweeper at around 60, posted turn speed 25-30, downshift to 2nd, let the engine keep the car at slight deceleration, and it suddenly reverts to full-auto (D-Mode), as I am rolling back onto the throttle now around 50mph. At this moment, the car is immediately sluggish and i realize that the trans has gone into 5th. That is when I lost my damned patience and made my previous statement. Enough of that, I AM THE BOSS, so it will be a 6MT at order time. haha Okay, thats enough venting, apologies.
Also----Maybe we can all enjoy this. This company is doiing the "supercar experience" for a great cost, as long as it is near you.
