Today was a very good, productive day :D

I finally was able to hook up "rear view camera" to my MY09 e90 M3.

It was a testing day to make sure everything works the way it should and I didn't complete the installation 100%. I am still planing on testing tomorrow "front view camera" and "video streaming from iPhone/iPod".

A few quick pictures :D

Finally...you are the man doba! :)

yep, but I have a different camera ...
Congrats on the work and cool preview!

Please offer:

1. A stealthy looking and small camera with solid simply mounting
2. Ease of installation allowing conversion back to stock
3. The ability to turn on the camera while driving forward
4. A fair price

With that you'll get my business and lots more I suspect.

This was my way of thinking when I started working on it ...

All of that has been achieved, but I am not sure about the ability to turn on the camera while driving forward. I see what I can do ...
can you make it record-able so we can film in the track.
Excellent . . . looking forward to the end of the month.

Good idea, but that would add a great deal of complexity to the design.

I think he should focus on getting the initial camera system up and running first. ('bug free' of course :D)

This is one of the positive aspects of belonging to an online community.

Products like this can be introduced by "the common man", with a lot of hard work and determination.

Kudos to doba for building a functional front/rear camera kit for our cars.
Wow, great job man. You plan on making this available to the public then? Any idea of when?

It has one AV/OUT, so I guess you will be able to connect the recording device

It should be ready in a few weeks.

Thanks.

For occasionally, I use Sony T900 Camera with a 16Gb Memory Card, I mount camera at license plate with a thick plastic glass. Camera can record at 720p with ~30 fps. Just want to have some fun.:)

I agree with all 4 points above, but I especially agree with the ability to turn on camera while driving forward, this is a nice option to have and it should be pretty simple to do compared to the whole project at hand.
