How to import a BMW into Canada without getting rear ended

My warranty expires at the end of April.
Canadian dealership rep said they can't issue extended warranty on US vehicles period.
Does anyone know if there is a way to get extended manufactures warranty maybe in Buffalo BMW? If yes, will it be honored in Canada ?
Is there any other company that will issue an extended warranty for my car in Canada?
After all it works like insurance. Don't get the reason why BMW Canada refuses to extend it here...

Hi all. First post here and some questions:

1) Are any M3s built in North America? This would mean I could skip the 6.1% levy.
2) If you are importing a car that is not built in North America, are you paying the cost of the car, plus 6.1%, then being charged GST on top of that amount too?

A guy up in Canada bought my old Z4M from a dealer in Washington State. Simple and fast. Good price too. This was 2010ish.

I have an odd question. Let's say you have family living in the states. Can they gift you a car and if so, do I have to pay tax and 6% to bring it over?

Just brought my M3 back from Europe. It was a diplomatic delivery (not tourist). Canadian spec car. Drove it there for three years. Shipped it here with the rest of my stuff.

On arrival I took the bill of lading, a photo of the door plate with the Transport Canada sticker, a photo of the odometer and a copy of the bill of sale (I had bought from a Canadian dealer so it was a Canadian bill of sale).

Customs cleared it with no problems, no RIV as it was a Canadian spec vehicle. Paid duty at 6.1% and GST on depreciated value less $10,000. Returned to the shipping co and they released the car and my other stuff.

Drove the car for a safety and e-test. Then to Service Ontario for plates.

Relatively painless
