There is still room at the Portland BMW Club track day at PIR this coming Thursday (the 7th)!

Intermediate in particular still has plenty of room.
Enjoy it for me please. I'm at one of those work offsites catered to people with energy and positive attitudes.

That sounds exhausting. And pointless.

It was a good day. I set a new personal best of 1:29.5 and got to instruct a brand new track driver in a brand new 2018 WRX STI with full bolt ons.

Taste of Motorsports is next up on the 23rd!

I don't want to have any "run ins" with $300,000 cars/drivers.........

I'm pretty sure the advanced group is going to be mostly track-prepped cars, run of the mill stuff.

The exotics will mostly likely be in the "Gentleman Racer" group. And Ferrari has their own run group.

Actually now that I think about it. It might be good to attend with my company name on the side of the car.

Yes, yes it would.

Advanced has passing in 3-4, 6-7 in addition to the straights. Neil is bringing the Palatov D1 so you won't even be the quickest car on track! You can practice your point-by's :P

What can he run consistently?

1:17's. I think his PB is a 1:16.8 or so. Car is probably good for 1:14's I think he said, just needs bigger cojones.

I see. We are not down to 17 yet. We'll see when that happens.......

22? Are you trying to insult me? ;)
Faster than that....

Haha. No, I was hoping I would feel better about myself... 1:18? A full spec GT3 car should be turning 1:15 - 1:16 I think.
FYI there is still a few spots left for driving at the Taste of Motorsports this weekend at PIR. Run groups include Vintage, Gentleman Driver (i.e. Intermediate) and Advanced (for those who want to turn the dial up to 11).

It's coupled with an exotic car show, price includes catered gourmet food and booze throughout the day (after driving, of course on the booze). First time this event is being held in Portland and hoping we can make it a yearly occurrence!

The Ferrari Challenge team will also be there running the 488 Challenge cars along with a few other surprises.

So THATS why they moved the SCCA AutoX to the other paddock :)

We'll have the whole family at the AutoX in the BMW or on a kart.

Yeah I saw SCCA was running in the north paddock. I'll be in the advanced run group for TOMS so look for my silver E46 on track throughout the day!

You did a nice job of chasing Greg in the widebody E46. :D

The PCA put me in Novice for the ORP weekend starting Saturday, but that's probably to be expected. They have no idea who I am, even if I signed up for intermediate. I'll spend Saturday getting to know the track and then I'll ask to be promoted to intermediate on Sunday. On the positive, I have an instructor on Saturday. No one I've met, but its an opportunity to make a friend.

lol, didn't chase him for long! PrimeBMW's user avatarPrimeBMW is at least 7-10 seconds quicker I think. Pretty sure that car will be in the mid-teens or lower when it's all sorted.

ORP is way more technical than PIR, so having an instructor will be good. A lot of blind crests and corners where you just have to know where to aim the car before you can see the apex. It's fun, but way more work per lap than PIR!
Had an amazing two days at ORP. WHAT a track.

Heres a lap (sorry about the lack of sound; it was nothing but wind noise)...

It was really fun to play with the GT3s and GT3RSs.

Nice! CCW is a mind trip if you rarely do it lol.
CSCC is putting on a half day event on 08/18 during the Dash for Kids race weekend. Three 20 min sessions for $149. Open to experienced/advanced drivers only and limited to 25 cars. Last race-day event only had 8 cars total.

Note that these HPDE sessions are run in between the races. So the schedule is very strict and shenanigans which require black flags/recovery won't be tolerated.

Details for signup at link below.

I signed up for the 17th in HPDE. I'll look into the 18th as well. I wouldn't need to take all the stuff off to do a second day.
