Oh boy another 4x4 error thread! So this error started showing after some heavy snow driving. At first it was intermittent, it would only come on after about an hour of driving and would go away after a few hours being parked. But now it is more consistent, almost every time I start the vehicle it is present. I did bottom out the day it started showing up but that was about 5 hours before the code was thrown and way before the snow driving.

I am planning on checking the ABS sensors as I've read that they can be a common cause for the error. But hopefully someone can help shed some light on what else might be worth looking at in case it might be something more serious.

Here are the related codes I pulled from BimmerLink. There are more codes but these are the ones I believe might be directly related to the 4x4 issue.

19 Transfer box
2 errors
55C3: 55C3 VGSG four-wheel-drive system activated. No DXC setpoint default.
55C6: 55C6 CAN_MESSAGE_SPEED_CYCLE, CE

29 Dynamic Stability Control DSC8 Plus
4 errors
5ED8: 5ED8 - Reverse gear switch: Monitoring reports: Switch permantent forward
5F13: 5F13 - Brake pad wear: Rear axle wear limit reached.
5E50: 5E50 - Raddrehzahlfuehler Front Right: Air gap too large.
5E4C: 5E4C - Raddrehungsfuehler Front right: line fault or short circuit.

36 Telematics control unit
1 error
A8E8: TCU: signal wheel speed sensor faulty - direct line
