I wondered why the churches were so busy on a sunday round here - then realised they were all asking for a top-up of divine intervention for the blind bends in the lanes.

My dad was from a little village called Thorncombe in Dorset.
He used to barrel round the country lanes at full tilt and defended it to my Mum with the argument that he knew all the locals and was pretty sure who else would be on the road at the same time as he was.
