Since, this thread has multiple people trying to accomplish the retrofit I will put my findings here.

From a little bit of reading I was able to find the following and have following questions:
1. Absolutely need the latest or at least C16 version of CIC software. Mine is definitely older than that firmware. I read C16 version allows to retrofit combox without the FSC code.
Anyone know who can update the CIC software locally to C16 version. I would like to update it to that particular version and not pay for FSC code if thats an option. I need to update my CIC anyway to get the new (2017) maps loaded via glovebox USB instead of DVDs.
FWIW, the combox I bought has the manufacture date from 2015.

2. If your car has TCU and MULF then you will need two kufatec connectors to one 26 pin connector harness to make it reversible/plug and play. Or you will need to remove the pins from the originals and insert it in the 26 pin connector that will go in to the combox. I also read, this method may end up with a bit too short of wire length and not work. I see kufatech connectors for $18 each on ebay and 26 pin connector and the casing for about $20 total in ecstuning. Also, you will need MOST terminator loop, thats about $20 in ecstuning as well.


I am planning on making a harness. In my case:

I have factory CIC with TCU and MULF2, so I will be purchasing two kufatech connectors and 26 pin connector.

1 kufatech connector(TCU)+1 kufatech connector(MULF)---> 26 pin connector (combox)
1 MOST loop terminator to cover the MOST connector.

What other wires/adapters will I need?
I might do rear view camera and/or PDC retrofit at the same time. So, looking into those as well. I think I can do the rear view camera retrofit, but dont know how it will impact the combox retrofit coding.

Each car is different, so you will need to check your car and see what all devices you have and gather the connectors accordingly.
1. no CCC/CIC to combox: you will need dash, screen, CIC unit, controller knob, trim piece to fit controller knob, combox, emulator, associated wiring.
2. CCC to CIC + combox: you will need everything from above minus dash.
3. CIC to combox: combox, associated wiring.

* All of the above will require coding and software updates as needed.
