Before I got my e92 I drove a Mk4 Golf GTi for about 10 years. In the last year of ownership I had reached the point where I hated the car but I couldn't afford to replace it yet, I became utterly depressed every time I got into it and constantly longed to some day drive a BMW.
Now that I do, I actually find myself missing my GTi! I would never go back to it of course, but hindsight has a way of isolating the fun memories from the bad ones when in comes to car ownership.
