My diy dual oil cooler setup

I track my car a few times a year. HPDE format with 20-30 minute lapping sessions. My oil temps would get up to 290°F some times. I installed a CSF radiator which helped. I wanted more cooling capacity, and I love messing with things so I made my own setup. I looked at the commercially available systems and a few other diy setups while designing my own system. I did my whole setup without removing the front bumper.

I removed the drivers side wheel well liner to make a template from cardboard. I also removed my brake ducts to make this work.

I took off the passenger side wheel well liner and removed the factory oil cooler. I then reversed the cardboard design and checked that a mirrored piece would fit the opposite site. It did.

Next I cut aluminum and began fabricating.

I bought a pair of Mishimoto 25 row oil coolers off eBay. Scratch and dent boxes, but the parts inside the boxes were brand new and un-touched. I also bought a bunch of chinese fittings and higher temp rated oil hose.

I left the factory oil thermostat and housing in place and functioning. I routed the coolers in series so the oil leave the engine, goes through one cooler and then the second cooler, and then returns to the engine.

I cut and made my own louvered cover plates for the two oil coolers to protect them from debris.
