Why do some adults insist on inflicting a lifetime of heartbreaks onto a young child by forcing their favorite sports teams on them? Let them decide for themselves once they get older! I remember the disappointment when my goddaughter picked an unpopular NASCAR driver as her sports hero, but it was her choice and I had to respect it.
Many moons ago, I was working as a steward at a track day event right after a NASCAR race at that track. I went for a stroll down the empty pit road, and picked up a handful of discarded lugnuts from her favorite driver's pit stall as a holiday gift. Greatest godfather ever.....
