Getting to the amp isn't a complete nightmare but like everything else on these cars is a pain. Make sure to open your convertible top half way to make it easier. It's typically pretty clear if the amp has water damage.
I'm more knowledgeable about the Logic 7s but for the HI-FI I'm pretty sure you'll still need a harness to adapt if you go aftermarket. I'd recommend staying oem if you want the easiest fix.
