Yeah, I've been seriously considering going with a different car for 2010, but have yet to find another that compares to the 335i in price/performance. Considered the M3, but found out my insurance will over double compared to the 335i, even higher for the 09 Vette (and am worried about GM).
Considered a C63 AMG, but even adding a tune costs $3000+

So I might be getting a facelifted 2010 e92 335i too. Would consider the DCT if it proved better than the 6AT for reliability with mods. And would really like to see IF, in FACT it is faster when accelerating anyway.
Read BMW may be dropping the 6AT in favor of the DCT anyway. If that's true, that's a big mistake. Why not have 3 transmissions offered.
Manual
6AT at $1,200 option
DCT at $2,500-2,700 option

Seems reasonable to me, and smart for people who WANT an auto tranny, but don't WANT or NEED the DCT and don't want to spend the extra money for it.

But what I've seen with that DCT launch control doesn't impress as it's more of a "fools proof" way to launch aggressively without messing up. But clearly it isn't the best for getting optimum acceleration times (at least with the extra power of the tune).
It should ride the DSC right on the edge of tires spinning and make millisecond adjustments to the power to do so. Not bog, then spin too much, then bog a bit again as it cuts too much power again, then finally go.
Oh well, more testing needed.
