Post N54 HPFP Rebuild Kit

Hey guys,

I've recently come across an HPFP issue with my car, now I'm not trying to cheap out or try and avoid fixing my car but I'm actually curious if anyone has successfully rebuilt their HPFP and where they sourced the parts from, Now if there is no way out, its fine ill just purchase a new one from FCP but I actually want to make it a passion project of mine and start rebuilding some of these things myself. Obviously, you can buy "remanufactured" ones that are basically rebuilt, but I actually rather do it myself.

Thanks! Looking forward to the feed back in the community.

I've never heard of anyone attempting to rebuild their HPFP, and never even seen a kit to do so.

I have a nice used HPFP that came off of an N54 I recently bought. Shoot me a PM and maybe we can work out a deal?

Doesn't it have some sort of internal fuel regulator built into it also?

On a side note.....if you search google for "BMW N54 High Pressure Fuel Pump Rebuild Kit"....you get nothing. So I'm guessing it's on a very popular option at all.

They never covered exactly what you'd need to rebuild it, unfortunately.

I got lucky and bought a used 1 for $150. it's been working good for a year now. I still have my bad 1 if you want it. I looked around a little to find someone to build it and could not find anyone. Probably someone in Germany is doing it, is my guess

Rarely do you hear of anyone rebuilding them because it’s just not worth it.

I’ve rebuilt 2 pumps. I attached the Orings needed. And u also need a 100 ml syringe and rubber tubing with the end wrappped in plumbers tape. U just need to make sure there is NO air in the pump. Shove tubing into diaphragm hole. Cut a styrofoam cup in half. Then press the bottom of the cup on the side that mounts to vacuum pump. Cut out the inner circle line and use gasket make to affix cup to pump. Fill with like 3/4” of oil. Draw back on syringe, bringing diaphragm back to less than 11/16”. Place shaft seal on while holding vacuum on diaphragm. I stripped a piece of wire at 11/16” and stuck it into diaphragm when I was done. I was at 9/16”. What I’ve learned is that if there is more than 11/16” from diaphragm plate to hole then your pressure will be insufficient. There is a video on YouTube that walks you through the steps.

Do you have the link to that video? I plan on attempting this.
