Delphi M3 rear control arms?
Hi everyone,
I’m interested into replacing some suspension components and was thinking of doing the rear control arms and Replace them with M3rears and was going to pull the trigger on some Meyle from Fcp but came across some Delphi branded ones and wanted to see if anyone has any experience and if so, how long have you had them and any issues so far, reason I’m considering them is because they’re about under half the price of the ones on Fcp TYIA Last edited by Daniel08E93; 06-06-2025 at 02:52 PM.. |

The reason why they are half the price is because Delphi is crap. I bought Delphi 335 front control arms for a great price but I had two issues:
- the ball joint in the arm is plastic, not metal (I only discovered this after I bought them) - the ball joint nut could not be torqued to spec because the whole joint rotated when the nut was tightened and using an allen key to prevent the rotation was unsuccessful because the soft metal stripped Ultimately, I wrote off the brand new Delphi units and replaced them with Lemforders. No install issues there. |

I did a rear end refresh with M3 parts a few years ago and it was well worth it; the car handles great now. I did it with:
- TRW M3 control arms (supposed to be OEM-grade, but harder to find now since TRW was bought out) - Lemforder M3 subframe bushings - OEM M3 antisway bar FWIW, using the Delphi units in the rear is not as risky because there's no ball joint back there, so you're only really risking the bushings wearing prematurely. Before I bought the Delphi units, I never knew that some manufacturers would use plastic for a ball joint. You would think that the plastic would only last a couple of years. |
