If you have it, there's a switch inside the top left of the glove compartment that turns OFF the truck switch that's under the dash near the driver's door.

If you turn this switch off, you can then remove your key from the fob to lock the glove compartment AND then, when you give the fob to the valet (or whoever), the valet can drive the car but cannot open the trunk BECAUSE you've disabled the trunk switch and you've got the key, which is the only thing that can then be used to open the glove box to reactivate the trunk switch or to open the trunk via the trunk keyhole.

BTW, I have the flashlight too but it's pretty useless. Just like the idea of having it for completeness.

Pretty sure all UK BMWs don't have it

Does anyone know if the wiring would be there or if not how to retro fit?

It's not difficult at all. All you need is

1x switch 61319200316 20,65€
1x universal socket 61138380696 1,26€
3x contact pins 61130006663 x 1,20€
3x piece of wire

1 wire goes from the new switch to ground
1 wire goes from the new switch (it has a LED inside) to the car light and 1 wire goes in parallel to the pin on the module where the trunk lid switch is connected to

Unfortunately yet I don't know the pin numbers and cable color for the e92 and which module exactly. It's likely to be the CAS module and the colors are black, red and grey...? If one doesn't have CA, well.... it has to be connected to another module.
Too bad I can't find it in the WDS and I'm far from being a car electrician

So the vehicle can be driven with JUST the fob? You're saying if I remove my key from my fob, I can still drive the car with just the fob?

Yup. Don't need the emergency key to do that. Key can only open the doors, trunk and glove box. Can only START the car w/the fob whether the key is in it or not.

I did not know that. I'll have to remove my key from my fob and try it tomorrow. I thought the key had to be in the fob in order for the fob to work.

Oh, do you have a picture of that trunk switch? I want to see if I have that. I'm kinda pissed that I don't have a flashlight. My e46 had one. I'd never use it, but I'd like to have one for the "complete" factor. Weird thing is I don't even see a place where the flashlight would go....

This pic is not of my E90 but this is what the switch looks like -- it's in the front upper left hand side of the glove box.

The flashlight holder is on the left side rear of the glove box. If your came w/one, there should be a clip there to hold the mini-light. Don't see it in the above pic but mine has one there.

No, the valet trunk lock switch is the thin switch at the top left front of the glove box (visually above the USB plug way in the back) w/the lock and unlock symbols on it.

Look more closely!
