Sad sad day

Sad sad day
My e93 is going away
She's being replaced with a 140i
And as I sit here, I don't know why,
Now feeling really glum,
Why have I been so dumb.

The problem is you cannot keep all your cars.

You have to move on.

Sometimes you still love the car you have....... sometimes you hate it.

.. but you won't know till you try. Oh so true of life in general. Be boring if we didn't push ourselves to try new things occasionally.

The 140i is an absolute beast. Good replacement imo. You will soon forget about your e93!

Ah feel for you mate!

The pain never leaves, you'll see one again soon and you'll remember the good times and never the bad!

Try not to have too much fun in the 140... you could end up in love again...

I've had an M135 and apart from the styling think it's a better car in just about every way. Oh except steering feel.

I keep looking at Megane R26's . My car from about 2 cars ago. Sold about 5 years ago.

One popped up on KTEC a low miles late plate yellow one.

In retrospect I still think it was best all-round car I ever had..... But then it did not have a V8!

I get to look at Adam1990's pics of my old 330i & think what a great car that was....But then it did not have a V8!

You may be getting a V8 theme here. Point being if I never sold each of them I would not get the chance to try something new/different. I will probably get a M140i next year. Probably should have got one this year but thought I would try the V8 while they were still young & in warranty.

When they stop pumping the black gold from the ground or I am old & infirm I want to look back as a car enthusiast at a varied portfolio of cars. Some great some not so. But all different.

fwd, 4wd, rwd, Auto, Manual, DCT, Turbo, Superchanged, 3 Cylinder, 4 Cylinder, 16v, 8v, In-Line 6, V6, Flat 4, 5 Cylinder..... etc. Maybe even a Hybrid.

Agreed. Variety is key. I love my E91 but lust after and almost regret not buying that Pajero I've wanted for ages. One key for a car to be loved, is for it to fit your lifestyle.

It's funny how our perceptions of our cars change depending on the circumstances.

Before I got my e92 I drove a Mk4 Golf GTi for about 10 years. In the last year of ownership I had reached the point where I hated the car but I couldn't afford to replace it yet, I became utterly depressed every time I got into it and constantly longed to some day drive a BMW.

Now that I do, I actually find myself missing my GTi! I would never go back to it of course, but hindsight has a way of isolating the fun memories from the bad ones when in comes to car ownership.

Actually I have a secret lust after a MK7 GTI especially since one of the girls i the office told me I was too old to get one

You've got a poin t hough. I can't exactly say I hated my Z4MC in the end, but it was a major pain in the backside. And I was very good at convincing myself that I needed a "normal" car... which sadly is kinda true... I'd love to say I really miss it but no, not really. But I still want a Pajero, Civic EK9 Type by Spoon, an M6 and a Mini Clubman (last model no current one yuk) JCW. Oh and a Catherham.

A sad day indeed,
But think about the newly planted seed
As time passes the 140i emotions will grow
Let that feeling surpass you so much so
That you appreciate what you had and what you now have
Now be quiet and enjoy your new car!

OK folks, got to 'fess up. I am a dirty low life weasel of a man. The 140i is now the love of my life. It is completely awesome, and my heart has been won, and the new car now wears the private plate previously worn by my e93.

How quickly we forget the years of love and service, all forgotten and now smitten with a younger model.

Your ex's new owner is probably saying the same thing while his or her rusting old E46 is in the customer parking bay at We Buy Any Car
