2011 320D Manual Transmission fluid spec for change
Hey folks,
Whilst I know the transmission fluid is meant to last the life of the car, I disagree with that claim and am looking at changing it out on my 2011 320d 6 speed manual transmission. From what I've gathered I think the correct spec should be a MTF-LT-2 75w80 Synthetic GL-4 gear oil. I've come across this very reasonably priced oil from Westway Lubricants which is £29.99 for 5l, you can find at LINK HERE Has anyone got any experience with their products or maybe has any recommendations on a better product that also reasonably priced? |

Totally agree with your decision to ignore the BMW 'Lifetime fill' nonsense! I think you'll find the correct viscosity is 75W-90. I know nothing of Westway Lubricants. If you don't want to use the BMW oil, I'd go for a good quality synthetic like this
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171155290215 I'd say 5L is a waste of money as you'll only need 1.4litres...

Hi Phil
I think you might be right. I direct messaged westway and they think I might have the ZF GS6-45BZ Manual Gearbox which needs a MTF-LT-5 spec oil. I tried checking RealOEM.com using my VIN but it listed both transmissions as possible fitment so it didn't help my search. My understanding is the MTF-LT5 and MTF-LT4 do not mix well together. I guess my only option would be to jack the car up and try and find the identifying plate. I wad considering the 5l as my sister has the same make/model and with 5L I would have more than enough to cover both vehicles otherwise I would just buy the 2l |
