Back after 9 years: E91 330i N52 Monaco Blue

Feels good to be back on here after so many years. I sold my e92 335d in 2016 for an E63 M6. I still have the M6, although it now lives as a 680hp monster, I just couldn't use it as a daily, especially not during winter where every year it has been garaged during the off season. I decided I needed a daily. After seeing my mate's e91 325i jap import, I realised now with 2 kids I needed something practical as a daily and ulez compliant. I started looking at all sorts of options but came running back to familiar territory.

So I began the search for an e91. It had to be 6 cylinder and had to be petrol. I saw a few 325i e91s but nothing stood out to me. They were all nice examples overall but when I saw this monaco blue with cream leather interior combo, that alongside all the works already done was the selling point. I was adamant in not wanting black interior again. From the time I started looking to when I bought something was around 3 weeks.

Found one listed on ebay so I made an offer and originally it got rejected. When I went to view the car it turned out the car had more work done than originally described in the advert. I think the previous owner listed just the big ticket items and didn't bother or think to list all the other things. To my advantage!

Its a 2006 330i individual, 2 previous owners, 79k miles, sunroof with LCI front end alteady done and had car play. It was perfection my eyes. The bodywork had a few imperfections of which I can address and have already gotten quotes to fix but instead I have chosen to buy an lci bootlid and M sport rear bumper to make it a full lci conversion (bar lci roof bars).

So off i went to collect the car. Struck a deal on the spot and transferred the funds. The drive home was as expected, trouble free!

I've done around 1k miles in the last 3 weeks and its been absolutely spot on. In that time I've addressed a few things as part of maintenance, including:
  • Oil change
  • Air filter
  • Pollen filter
  • Diff fluid change
  • Brake fluid change
  • Valvetronic motor gasket replacement - OEM
  • Oil cap and gasket replacement - OEM
  • Painted calipers
  • New boot and bonnet struts
  • Oem feont and reae wiper blades
  • Front and rear spacers

Bought but yet to fit
:
  • Rear lci boot lid + oem harness for lights
  • Rear m sport bumper
  • Front led lci adaptive xenons
  • Gearbox filter and mechatronic sleeves

Over the next few weeks I plan to give the car a full paint correction.

I am a hobbyist and do most of the mechanical and paint correction work myself. I don't paint, but I've self taught some mechanical and detailing work as I really enjoy tinkering and being hands on.

More updates as they come but enjoy a few pics for now! Thanks for stopping by

Oh how I would love to have a 330i E91!!! Great find with that amazing low mileage!
I love Monaco... fantastic looking vehicle! Roof rails are pretty easy to swap out if you come across some LCI ones. Are the delete strips readily available in the UK? If so, you could even do that and it would be super clean!

Thank you! I think I prefer the lci roof rails look over a complete delete. How difficult is it to replace pre lci to lci ones if you happen to know?

And yes she's truly a keeper. I have no intention of selling. Just to keep up with maintenance, some light mods to make it mine and maybe some nice wheels next year.

I have no issues with the older raised rails, just think the low profile ones look great! I have some in my shed ready to install if I ever get around to it LOL.

I have not done it on an E91, but have an E70 X5... I think the principles hold up across the platforms, and I found it extremely easy to do. Just pull the gaskets off the top of the doors, pull the A, B, C, and D trims (some people don't even do that part) and lower the headliner just enough to get access to the three bolts on each side.

FWIW I've also pulled and swapped headliners and found that a pretty easy job, so I might be biased

So, supercharger kit on order yet?

I sort of want to delete my rails, but I think it might look weird. Not sure if it's easy to find the delete strips either. Maybe lci rails are the sweet spot, but I'd want msport headliner while I'm at it......

LCI may indeed be the compromise. Once you see how clean they look, it's hard to look at the raised style the same way! The delete strips are close to non-existent over here in El Norte.

FWIW you can still use roof racks if you have the deletes. The welded in nuts for the rack bases are still there just like on a sedan or coupe, so you can get the fixed rack style in order to carry bikes or whatnot.

And oh yeah, while I'm spending your money for you, your car would look AMAZING with an M Sport interior!!!

There was a guy selling a complete interior kit on eBay for £20....but it was the wrong side of the country for me and he wouldn't ship, which is fair enough.

I'm off to eBay to scan for another one

Absolutely not, haha! I also have an E28 m535i nut and bolt resto so all my play money has gone into my other 2 cars so I best keep the wife happy and leave this relatively stock! The LCI bootlid and M sport bumper are being changed as advised by the MOT garage!!

Well, bodyshop just sent me these. Not pictured is the stock M sport rear diffuser. I didn't plan to go performance diffuser as its a daily and by birth an SE so just wanted to give it a slightly updated look with the M sport and LCI conversion.

Mr Singh! How are you man? Yeah this feels like home despite it being so long! I still go back your build journal from time to time as I absolutely love your 335i. It's perfection.

I now have a fully functioning rear Lci conversion done and I'm chuffed to bits. Just waiting on new badges and 330i emblem in the post. Also happy to confirm that I was able to code out the fast turn signals in Carly under FRM module. It was a piece of cake in case anyone wondered.

Next up, get the remaining maintance bits sorted. Also found out today I'm in need of lower control arms and a flex disc so that's on order.

Beyond that, give the car a machine polish and I know then she'll come to life.
