Amping E90 HiFi Audio with Bavsound speakers?

Hey All! So many sweet threads of upgrades on here. Thanks to all the contributors!

Anyone know how to get a hold of Technic?

I am working on an audio upgrade project and came across his thread on his home made Hifi amp connectors. I need one of those bad boys!!! Tried PM'ing but inbox full.

I foolishly purchased bavsound speakers a few years ago thinking I was sly to keep things simple and just spend the money. Nope! I have never been happy with them. For anyone wondering, the audio is very hollow and distorted sounding at higher volumes, not that the system even gets all that loud. Really bad factory amp. Should I keep these and try to make them work, or cut my losses and upgrade the speakers again? I have no idea what they'll do once hooked up to a decent amp.

My goals are to:
1. Add the 3x missing speakers that L7+ cars come with that my Hifi car is missing (center dash speaker and the two rear door card speakers)
2. Amp the whole car!

My plan right now if I can get that harness from Technic is to purchase an aftermarket 9 channel amp (open to recommendations), tie it into the factory speaker wiring with the Technic harness, and then wire the additional 3 speakers I'm adding directly to the amp. For the rear door speakers it's easy, as I can tap signal from the rear deck speakers. I am less certain about how to get the center front channel to work. Need to do more reading on that...any and all feedback is welcome!

Well the Bav Sound stuff is overpriced. The biggest problem with the Hi Fi is the Hi Fi amp is weak, so very weak . And the stock speakers are not that good especially the under seats. Technic has been gone from this site for over a decade. He may still have his website up for harnesses and speaker adapters though . His stuff is not a fully commercial product not home made.

There is no reason to upgrade to L7 it's not necessary to get good sound . Having decent speakers in all position's and upgrading to something like a Helix DSP/amp will be better than an L7 system could ever be. The Bavsound and Bimmertech amps are rebadged Helix Amp/DSP (Also called Audio Tech Fisher which is the website for the there two audio lines Match and Helix ) https://www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/

You better be sure which system you have Hi Fi is a 6 channel amp and Top Hi Fi is 9 channel the wiring system is completely different between the them .
Please Read the Links .
Also Top Hi Fi Logic 7 is a pain to retrofit because of the optical connection between the amp and head unit and the 9 channels and it is not all the great anyway.

Technicpnp.com website is in the following list of links.
Last two links are no longer supported here buy you won't need them with Hi Fi

Please read the links.

Thanks for the reply, I have been digging through some of your links and its all very helpful! Did not realize Technic had been gone for so long...

I have S676A Hifi with a 6 channel amp from facotory in my 2011 E90 USA spec. I am in the process of retrofitting rear door cards with sunshades to match the rear roller sunblind I have just installed. The new rear door cards have provisions for speakers and I cannot bring it upon myself to leave them empty and function less just because my car did not come equipped with them. Thats the primary motivator, and I have wanted to improve the sound for a while. I know to get what I want, I need a new amp.

I want in the end to have an aftermarket 9 channel amp driving speakers at all of the factory locations as standard in a factory Logic 7/Top Hifi car, bearing in mind the 3 speakers which the car does not have factory wiring for. I apologize if this is confusing...but as zi understand it, it's good that I don't have the amp with optical connection. Also appreciate that tip about the OEM for the bimmertech amp, I looked into that but man, pricey for what it is, isn't it.

Will continue going through links!

I have a 325xi E91 and it has speakers in the rear doors.
The thing about rear speakers is they don't do that much for the
overall sound .

You can get the same amp/dsp from audio tech fisher but it won't have pre canned tune.
It will still be expensive it was expensive before Tariffs probably will be nor expensive now.

The connectors are totally different between HI Fi and Top Hi Fi at the amp connector .

Hi Fi 6 channels of wiring Logic 7 9 channels plus the Inputs are optical and use a BMW optical code .

Its hard to find a 9 channel DSP/Amp with center channel mixing.

Audio Tech Fisher and Mosconi is where I would look .

Its interesting you say that. When I added the Bav Sound stuff, it added rear deck tweeters on top of upgrading all the other speakers. Even so, while sitting in the driver's seat I can distinctly hear the sound coming from the rear deck, which sounds far away from me. I can also of course hear the front door speakers right next to/in front of me which are louder and sound close, but I'm ever aware of this gap in sound between the two sets of speakers. I guess its the perception of fullness, maybe?

The factory BMW L7 installation with optical components is not something I'm looking to retrofit. I simply want to add the rear door speakers now that I've invested in the fancy sunshade panels.

Maybe I'm over complicating it. I'm not attached to the center dash speaker too much, if I did without that I would have only 8 left and right channels, and I'm guessing many more amp options. I want to leverage the factory speaker wiring for all but the rear door speakers that I'm adding, thus my interest in Technic's harness. His website is still up, so I can maybe make use of that assuming i can find a way to tie in that wiring harness to an 8+ channel amp that allows me to add my rear door speakers. I'm still thinking on it.
