Logic7 Delete Plan — Input Before I Pull the Trigger

Hey all, looking for a quick sanity check before I commit to an audio overhaul in my E90.

I tried staying OEM first, but the head unit situation kept turning into a rabbit hole.

Background:

2006 E90 330i Logic7

CCC failed → attempted motherboard repair, no success
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0xz_DavLKw

Then did a pre-coded CIC retrofit + screen:

Never fully stable (red screen/BMW logo cycling before EVENTUALLY getting to the home screen)

No audio output

Factory amp didn’t show in diagnostics

TCU threw “present no message.”

Before chasing MOST faults further I got sidetracked by a radiator failure, and honestly at that point I was over fighting OEM electronics.

Also not concerned about SOS errors/telematics warnings at this stage.

Current Speaker Setup:

Bavsound Stage 1 kit (doors + rear deck speakers)

Factory underseat woofers still installed

Aftermarket trunk sub with Technic add a sub (~500W RMS amp).

Plan Now:

Basically simplifying everything:

Remove factory Logic7 amp

Install Eonon Android head unit
amazon.com/dp/B0FGZQQ9HN?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

Run analog RCA to an 8-channel aftermarket amp
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UMIRE4A...sin_title&th=1

Keep existing sub amp

Use my TechnicPNP add-a-sub harness as the splice interface (avoid cutting factory wiring).

For MOST:
I have fiber loopbacks if needed, but since audio won’t be on MOST anymore I’m not sure it’ll matter.

Channel Layout Idea:

Amp groups channels 1–4 and 5–8:

Channels 1–4:
Front + rear door speakers
→ HPF around ~100 Hz.

Channels 5–8:
Rear deck + underseat woofers
→ LPF roughly ~80–100 Hz.

Center speaker deleted.

Power Plan:

Two amps total:

Rockville 8-channel (~750W RMS rated)

Existing sub amp (~500W RMS).

Separate fused 8 AWG runs from trunk battery, common chassis ground.

No distribution block planned unless I run into voltage issues.

Mainly Wondering:

Am I missing anything obvious here?

Anyone run a full Logic7/MOST bypass long-term?

Just trying not to create a bigger headache than the OEM system already gave me 😅

Did you recode the car to recognize the new Head Unit .
If you where on and 06 330 I believe you have to code the
car to a unit that didn't exist when the car was issued.
This is done with module updates by temporarily changing the
product date code and then coding in the module that is new.
Otherwise the coding software won't allow you to install the new
module. or recognize it. See coding and idrive sub forums.

Technic makes a Harness that breaks out the Top Hi Fi Amp connector
for a full retrofit. (So no wires Cut) see Technicpnp.com
If you want to avoid headaches this allows you to not destroy the OEM Harness.

Sounds like the Most Loop is not working and I would be suspicious that your
replacement Head Unit is actually programmed.

Cheap amps and Head units might come with there own set of problems and not sound that good. Did you check distortion specs or do they give those .

if you had old logic amp and want to use it with CIC, you need to update amp firmware and it will work with CIC, this is well known issue
all other MOST issues can be remediated by coding and programming

Lightwave and mobridge are great options. You keep the MOST and add more power/dsp. You may want to repin the door connector (pins available at fcp) to run another set of wires for active front tweets. You keep your sub amp and run it from the sub out which eliminates the need for the technic harness.
At some point you may want to consider a complete speaker overhaul with some quality drivers. Well worth it. Then you get to focus on your tune and enjoy.

If you install a aftermarket head unit you have removed the server for the Most Bus there is no Most Bus . The BMW head unit is the interface between the Most Bus and the Rest of the Car.

Since you plan to use Eonon Android head unit you pretty much downgrade your music quality to 2012 year phones AUX output.
(ARM Cortex-A53 chip used in Eonon was released in 2012 so very ancient)

I don't think there is any point amplifying something like 96kbps mp3 quality audio that lacks any dynamic range and gets beaten by all of the VAG group stock stereo made 2007+ in sound clarity.

Below picture to represent the downgrade when going from CIC to Eonon.
Left = OEM radio quality
Right = Eonon Android head unit

How do i know?
I tried these android headunits and went back to CIC with combox.
Sure you get some features but the units just suck. MIC is bad, they stop working in cold, random crashes, audio quality is worse than using some random cheap pioneer headunit from Ford.

If you want android functions get a MMI box that integrates with MOST.
For CIC the only logical thing to do in 2026 is swap the HDD with Flash memory (so you don't get the random errors due to mechanical drive falling apart after so many years.
+ rewrite the startup file to get all features - if you want them (if not latest version). Need to attach ENET protocol cables to ODB2 from CIC for FTP access to system files with ENET cable. Then use notepad++ (with Unix encoding for the correct EOL) to just add couple lines. - i did this method because updating to C1A is just not worth the investment and it was quite fun to hack around.
or
use the USB flash memory method to unlock all features (if on latest version C1A).

If you are ok with the CCC stereo system you can just get a stereo from a 2007+ CCC iDrive unit. Replace it, and then code it, its pretty easy and everything works perfectly. Except the preset buttons don't work on the front of the unit unless you modify a few things, which I personally didn't care about.

for the record, I tried 4 different 2006 CCC head units all, were failed in the same state, and the "repair" procedure didn't work on any of them. Total waste of time.
