When I bought my last bike at the local bike shop, I made sure to pay them with a check so they could avoid the fees. They don't charge the fees back to the customer.

Had a large bill at my dentist last month and they offered a discount if I paid by check, which I did.

The fee used to be 3%; don't know if that's changes...
