Car looks perfect btw!!
I have not yet tested the Rivals. They are very wide and beefy, which I love. I only mounted two of the tires for a test fit. Unfortunately two of my wheels arrived with damaged lips so I have to wait for replacements from BBS .

And thanks for the compliment!

The black coloring also gives the illusion of a larger size because there isn't a defining line between the wheels and tires (since they are both black). Lastly I think 20's look too big and silly on an M3... Which presumably you prefer since you own 20's. I have had 20's in the past and wouldn't do it again... But I have to admit that, if I did, I would only consider BBS LM's or LM-R's. We have different perspectives, which is cool.

Lots of people like to say that you lose the details of a wheel when they are black. I have never found that to be the case. I will admit that the details and definition are harder to capture in pictures... But in person you lose nothing IMO. Even if some of the detail is lost, I'm more concerned with the overall look of the car than I am with highlighting the wheel. I do however think the wheel would also look great if it were color matched Silverstone II to match the car.
I completely agree with you about black wheels, they just mingle with SSII and AW colors, making the curve of the car flows better.

A question for you, I currently have a BBS 19" FI in matt black, and I am considering to get a new set in 18" also in black, and paint my 19" in BBS Gold. The 18" version FI comes with two different offsets, +20/+25 and +18/+22(AKA RKP), which one is better with PSS 265/285?

I would choose the more aggressive offset version for those tires. See this link for pictures of my car with 18x9.5 et19 and 18x10.5 et19 BBS E88's on 275/285 Michelin PSS. I have about -2.0 front camber and no rubbing. My Michelins are for sale btw.

for running a 285; go for the +18, I am running same et on an 18x11 and w/ 285 fitment is perfect and my car is low. There's pics a few posts down from here.

I would go for the +20 and +18

Great response! I have all black wheels on my E46 M3 so agree that in pictures the wheels can look blended. I prefer 19" wheels overall and will have the 20" on the E90 M3 because I think they look great and set the car off plus because of the LM-R step lip design and silver face will make the wheels look too small to me. If I did a monoblock (HRE) I would have done 19". I am not into the 18's only because I don't track and to me they look too small, however for what you are going to use them for and your preference are perfect!

Thanks for the honest reply back!

Keep up the great modding!

How do you like the Rival so far compared to PSS or AD08R?
