Thank you for the idea, I ran the c_fg_schreiben job with my vin on the EPS module and the job ran fine. I can see the correct VIN at least using Tool32 when i run the c_fg_lessen job, so it kinda worked but UIF on Inpa still shows the old win.. so atleast I'm one step closer..

Check if argument AIF_lesen is still giving old vin. If yes, change that with AIF_schreiben and it should work. Everything in tool32 of course.

I'm building a track car and would like to use EPS without integrating with the rest of the cars control units.
Is it correct that I can connect the power supply, without connecting the CANBUS and the EPS will work (lighter turning of steering wheel but without the ability of fine tuning)? Or will "wake-up" signal still be needed? |

You will need still can to be connected due to the fact that power supply will be only for motor, but motor itself will not be activated due to lack of data from at least szl and dsc, so you can put can wiring, and without coding it still should work. But basic coding will be basically just adding VO, so still easily can be done, considering that you still need to remove plenty of vo codes if you are building race car.

All cable are ok. Changed vin number with winkfp, i controlled with inpa if the vin was correct, it was. Now i open ncs expert but in cas of frm ther isnt $1cb but only $1ca so i dont done nothing, even without this step everything still works fine driveability is great. but my eps was on an e93 and is not too bad drive like this coding, but I want to try e90 setting. can you help me? |

Help with CAN cable?
Hello, kolopn!!
Thank you for this fantastic tutorial! YouÂ’ve inspired me to start this project. ![]() I've already bought the steering rack, and luckily it has all the connectors attached and cut (power supply and CAN cable). Unfortunately, I know NOTHING about CAN BUS ![]() I understand that I need a 3-wire cable and the CAN connector that goes to the steering rack (61 13 8383300), but how do I insert the correct pins into the right positions in the connector? Is there a wiring diagram to follow, or do I just guess? Also, regarding the connection of the Hi-Low CAN and PT-CAN lines, where exactly should I tap into them? Near the DME? Okay, so basically, I need to cut the cable in half and insert a third connection, turning them into T-cables, right? Thank you so much for helping me with my doubts! ![]() |

Hello!
Thank you for your kind words! CAN bus is network in car for data exchange. EPS is communicating via PT Can network where “PT” stands for powertrain. It differes from ordinary CAN by speed of data transmission. What you need to do is to create three wire loom which consist of two Hi and Low PT Can wires (different type of data frames) and wake up line for that. I attached picture of pinout below. Easiest way to find those cable where you can take data is to connect them in DME Box so you don’t have to go through firewall to inside of the car. Same for power supply - originally power supply for EPS is taken from fuse near the battery, but easier way will be my solution with fuse inside engine bay. If you have any more question please don’t hesitate! |

![]() ![]() ![]() i didn't do any coding, simply because of the photo attached ot it: when i go and look for my EPS module on Winkfp the system can't find it, gives out this error code (the one it shows). i tried updating my daten files (i found a thread where they gave out daten files). but no luck ![]() i don't have any problem leaving it like that, the only real issue is that i have a E90 rack on a E93, and the driving is maybe a little too soft. do you have any help to navigate this further? ![]() (by the way, when flashing the EPS module on winkfp i tried doing this: open the program, selected "comfort" mode, from now on if i select F1 (enter ZUSB) it comes with the error. i can open "update ZUSB" and a whole list of modules will come up) |

Are you choosing ZBNumber or typing it manually? Normally you should choose one from the list. To be honest to get right vin you can also just change aif in tool32. But to be able to code eps you have to put FA code via ncs to frm and cas. Than ncs will see EPS and will allow you to code it.

Hello everyone. This seems like a great idea and i want to give it a go. Did anyone do it on older e90? Mine is from 2005, is there a way to check if the coding and everything is possible on my old girl?
