I know we have the lawn freaks thread but

Who has the issue of what they mow with. I currently have two late model John Deere 318's and I use a 316 For utility purposes aka tilling the garden and plowing.

I have wanted a 332 for an all around tractor with at a 44 loader but I am not willing to sell my grand daughter for one.

Recently I picked up this 322 witch is the petrol version of the Diesel engine from Yanmar. hoping I made right decision to sell off my twin Onan's

My yard is steep in places (about an acre) and farm-like, not suburban nor golf course. The mower that is safe and capable is about $10k. Plus fuel and maintenance. So I pay a guy to mow; costs about $2k/year and I don’t have to do it.

I look at the new robot mowers every year but they’re not up to my yard yet; I’d need two mowers because of fencing. And those aren’t inexpensive.

I had lawn service when I had this house as a rental and they did the driveway in the winter. Rather do it myself so now that I reside back in the house I do.

It's not what you mow with, its how high u mow... My deck never is lower than 4 ". If you only do one thing for your lawn.. mow high... length that is.. although I've mowed "high" both ways. P S. I mow with a john deere X350.

I like a lush grass as well it promotes less water usage and resistant to heat and drought.

X354 here. Max deck height is 4". This time of year, as well as in the spring, half to two-thirds of the back grows insanely fast even without fertilizer. If I didn't mow below 4", I'd have to mow every other day to keep up vs every third day that I do now. Even still, I get some clumping.

Our yard grows large rocks that destroy mowers, so we just go with the cheapest/free lawn tractor on Craigslist, fix it up, and run it until it breaks. Got a few years out of two old Montgomery Wards tractors (both free) before they were destroyed, and are now into year two of a Troy Bilt POS that already has a broken deck mount from a rock strike.....

Same.. 4" max as well. Wish it would go a bit higher. In the spring, I mow every 5 or so days. If one goes by the "Never cut more than 1.5" at a time"... I'd be mowing every other day... That ain't happening...
