Front Turn Signal burned out
Recently bought 2008 BMW 328i with front turn signal out. PO said it just needed a bulb. Of course, the socket was burned out. Replaced socket and it still didn't work. I took the wheel off so I could see inside and the plastic was melted around the metal prongs. Do I have to replace the whole headlight assembly?

Attach some pictures of the melted plastic, so we can understand the "magnitude" of the damage.
Regarding the fact that the light still doesn't work, it might be due to some protection BMW integrated in the FRM module for shortcircuits and that protection can be reset only with tool32. I suggest that you either do some research about this software or try to find some BMW garage in your area to do it for you. |

You need a multimeter to determine if you have 12 volts at the assembly. Note, you could also have a bad ground wire.
You'll also need a wiring diagram, which you can get online at newtis.com. You might find troubleshooting videos on youtube. |

I had a similar issue on my left head light.
The socket was a bit black which triggered me to look into the housing. The spot the socket touched the housing had melted a bit, and the metal contact also had a hole. In the end, I didn't fix it. I turned the socket a little, enough to make contact with what is present and that fixed it (TEMPORARILY) for now. Long term fix is to replace the whole unit. |
