335xi: Switching from BC to KW v1 coilovers

After months of debate, I have finally pulled the trigger on a set of KW v1 coilovers. I have BC coilovers on my Xi right now and love the city driving but HATE long road trips. The ride is way to harsh even on the most conservative setup. I'm just going to sell the BCs and put the extra cash in a front end suspension refresh;
Control arms, rear w/ poly bushings, ball joints, HD endlinks and new tie rods. AND I got a deal on a set of Whiteline front/rear sway bars.

Now from what I can see the KW v1s need a upper strut mounts, so I'm going to need a spring compressor.

for the rear I might go with a m3 control arms eventually

any thoughts? thanks!

Hey I am doing the same thing. My KW V1 are in my garage still. I bought everything to put these on. But you shouldn't need a spring compressor. The KW will allow you to thread the spring down far enough you can put the top parts on.

I figured the KW didnt need to be compressed to install but I will need to compress the oem shocks to remove some hardware I will be reusing. I got the top shock and that plate that goes in-between the two but I might need some washers on the original ones. other then that I think I should be golden. I did decide to order the powerflex Polyurethane Rear Upper Shock Mount Set.

Could you explain what makes the long trips unbearable with the BC coils and what makes the city driving so nice? I don't go more than 50 miles away down highways anyway and do 99% city driving.

I'm trying to decide between these two for my 328xi, thanks!

Don't get me wrong the BCs are nice, and really do change the look and feel of the car in a good way. But I could never set up the dampening adjustment to my liking...

I was considering the BC's for a while, as FCP drops a lifetime warranty on them to boot. XI of course has a limited selection....

I bumped into these ICS line of coil overs and they caught my attention. 3 different setups. Spring upgrades for different uses. Plus in 2019 they added a lifetime warranty with all their coil overs.
