Avin and PP82DSP?

i understand that if i'm coming from BMW HiFi, Professional headunit (no fiber optic, no iDrive), and i get an Avin (or similar), i'm tied to the Avin's aux output and the crappy BMW aux input. a Mr12volt won't help me (my MOST is only for the phone), and an outboard DAC for the Aux doesn't improve sound much.

but i also have a Match PP82 DSP with a TOSlink input (currently hooked up with a Technic Harness for HiFi).

can i somehow leverage that TOSlink to get better sound out of an Avin (or similar) device? i understand there is some sort of MOST output adapter with the Avin. i would be willing to consider a retrofit OEM headunit with MOST to retain a clean look (aside from the Avin), and have good sound quality from a screen high up on the dashboard.

thanks!

I think you don't understand how mr12volt works .
It hooks up to the Most and all it's signals go through
the Most this is for both the old version and the new fancy version
for the idrive.

Mr12volt uses the Most bus through the Compact Disk changer port on the original unit
and everything goes through that. You only have to enable the CD port and add the Mr12volt device
to the Most Loop.

You are pretty unclear on what you started out with and what you want to
achieve.

If you have base system and want better stereo the base system is most of the problem.

Toslink would be stupid course of action to take . Mobridge use to make a Most to Toslink translator
I believe and it cost 500 plus and I have never seen anybody use one. I have no idea of the quality
on Avins analog output but the stock BMW stereo's programmed to a Hi Fi output are pretty good.

You have to be able to tune the DSP to get the best out of it. And aftermarket speakers take it to the
next level.

thanks, i believe i have option 676 (HiFi, oem amp in trunk) with the BMW Professional headunit, and option 6FL (oem usb and aux). my car is a 2011, and it looks like it has a combox in the trunk, but i don't have A2DP bluetooth (only bluetooth for phone). the only changes i've done are switching out the oem amp for a Bimmertech sourced PP82DSP (tuned via file load and software) connected via a Technic harness for HiFi, and replacing the mids and tweeters with BMW Individual Audio mids/tweeters (underseats are original).

i don't have a CD changer installed from the factory, but i see what looks like a most connection in the harness plug. are you saying the mr12volt would connect through that most connection, which is where the CD changer would be connected if had one from the factory? should i then be able code my oem Professional head unit for a CD changer via NCSExpert (or similar) and then choose that source on the headunit to listen to mr12volt?

my goal is to get a screen up high in the dash, like an AVIN or similar, for carplay nav etc., but also maintain relatively hi fidelity and as much an OEM look as possible. i know most/all of the aftermarket carplay units only output via 3.5mm aux so i'm limited there. but if mr12volt allows me to at least bypass the oem 6FL aux port and get high(er) quality sound to my oem headunit, that is a start, especially if i can also use the other inputs on the mr12 volt as well.

thanks for your patience!
