Front Carrier Upgrades on E90 xdrive

Has anyone installed the front carrier from an F series xdrive into an E series? Does it even have any benefits? I know this has been done with a RWD vehicle, but have not seen anyone document doing it with an xdrive car. Potential benefits might be reduced un-sprung weight if the carrier is aluminum, and possibly better suspension geometry. It is front wheel bearing time, so now would be the time to make the swap if there are any advantages.

Did you ever look any further into this? It's also front wheel bearing time for me and swapping a whole wheel carrier would be easier.

Interested in trying this in the future. Advantage would be to have ability to run xdrive specific F/G series front struts like Ohlins and other high end brands. Ohlins doesn’t make a front strut to fit the e9x AWD cars but they do for the F/G series AWD cars.

I do currently run Ohlins F/G series front struts on my E90 335xi, but I had to spend many hours grinding down the lower strut mount in the spindle to get the struts to fit. Using the F/G xdrive front spindles would make this a much cleaner and probably faster setup.

I have not pursued this, and probably won't. It would likely make more sense to buy a RWD E90 if one wanted to pursue performance upgrades to the front suspension of this nature.

With respect to running the Ohlins struts, I can't comment. I am curious how the Ohlins compare to the KW V1. I know they are not in the same league from a cost/reputation perspective, but am curious about the real-life differences in the 335 platform. I personally find the KV1 pairing of shock and spring to be an ideal daily driver for a 328xi with 17x8" rims, 45 series series Continental DWS tires and less than ideal roads. I would not want a "stiffer" suspension for daily driving.
