19 years old belt ?

Hey guys,

I bought my first 335i e92 2006 with 240k km on the odometer (149k miles)

So i've been doing a lot of maintenance because previous owners mistreated the car a lot and i love working on this car (i love pain)

after reading horror stories about shredded belts, today i did belt tensioner along the belt.

Let me tell you i was shocked after i've inspected the belt

It was written 09.05.06 BMW so my first guess was "is this the original belt ?? "

The belt wasnt THAT bad tbf, it was about time to replace it yeah but i've seen worse belts

The belt tensioner was also a BMW so my guess that it was also the one from factory

BTW same for my water pump and thermostat, i have replaced them 2 days ago after a slight coolant leak (they were original parts from factory)

dont get me wrong i'm thankful it didnt blow my engine up but i'm scared to discover other stuff lol

Was this really the factory belt or do you have theories?

No idea if it was original or not, but either way I would be replacing most rubber components on a 19 year old car. Think about all the heat cycles its been through. Besides the belt, I’d be looking to do radiator hoses, Mickey Mouse radiator flange asap in the near term. I own a 2007. Ask me how I know….

Luck of the draw that the belts lasted that long.
