styling!, help me out

so i have a 2007 E92, in sapphire black metallic , and as can be expected the clear coat on the door mirrors is failing,

now i could remove the covers and repaint them, or i could buy new after market, covers in gloss black, or i could buy the M3 style in gloss black ( im not a fan of the carbon fibre look for the mirrors,

so question is, is there any reason why the M3 mirror covers have the extra leg or is it just to differentiate from the plain E92,s, is there any aerodynamic reason or is it just styling styling??

thanks

Go for it. This is an inexpensive, easily reversed mod to personalize your ride.

I don't believe there's any performance gain from the M style mirrors. They seem to be a tribute to the E36 M3 mirrors which featured two "legs"

I've had Amazon M caps and ebay China stock prepainted on my car. The Amazon stuff is very good. The Chinese part was not as deep. Maybe an additional 1/8" of the assembly is exposed.

It's no problem IF (while you have the original cap off) you hit all the black plastic with conditioner like Forever Black. Pop it on and it looks Factory fresh.

Finally, China delivery took a month iirc while Amazon is Amazon. Again, easily reversed. Go M! It's cool.

Yep thanks bit the bullet. and ordered them, the seller offered a decent discount.

They ended up cheaper than the paint and clear coat would have been, to refinish the originals
