Second Chance 328i

In an effort to become a full fledged member of this community and enjoy the privileges thereof I present to you some premium Deutsche industrial waste in the form of this new to me 2011 328i, USA base model, row-row-row myself, RWD:

Every body panel is blemished, there are weird paint\lotion stains on the seats, and all of the fiddly bits in the interior that can break are broken or in the process of breaking. Which is glorious! It is not precious! But it is mechanically sound, as is attested to its eager tug and supple motion... on the back roads, you filthy minded degenerate!

The previous owner (this is sort of a mechanics special\rescue, but that's another story) left a $15k saga of receipts in the glove box shoved in there by what I can only deduce was her foot. Some highlights (besides a regular diet of oil, tires, and ignition coils) are a timing chain, sprockets, and valve cover at 90k, the gasket trifecta at 112k (20k on a vcg lol), drivetrain seals at 119k, and most of the AC & coolant system at 154k. Suspiciously missing is any evidence of wasserpump being replaced, but I can't imagine at 167k the one on the job is still original. I hope!

Future plans are to get it truly mechanically sound, replace the starter which is developing a death-rattle, slap on a three stage intake (waiting patiently with the starter) and go from there.

Good times!

Welcome to the group!

Ooh, heated manual Terra seats, so nice! The leather looks pretty decent if you can those stains out, looks like someone dumped a bottle of white-out or nail polish. They'll probably come out nice if you soak in leatherique for a few days in the heat (and possibly cover in plastic wrap). Can't imagine what hides inside the carpet, imagine if they were tan!

Brown leather interior is lovely.

Just picked up a manual 2011 with 166k miles! Waterpump is also suspiciously missing from my binder of service records.... I ordered it along with a few coolant hoses, thermostat, and inlet gasket.... just in case.

Look forward to seeing more.

You're doing it right, Mears!!!
Hope this turns into a good car for you. Love the interior... definitely solid combo!

My similarly high mileage rescue car which is also well-documented is missing any record of water pump replacement. Looking at the rubber bushings falling apart, it may be from Munich!

I’m curious, does this car have a sunroof? If no, it might be Estero’s twin.

It does. A slicktop would be magical.

I jumped on a car that looks identical to yours because it was a slick top and low miles.
