I have a BMW E90 (2011) with the N47 engine, and I'm having a persistent issue with the oil pressure warning light.
Here’s exactly what’s happening: The oil pressure light comes on after the engine gets hot, especially when I’m going downhill or idling. As soon as I rev the engine, the light goes off. I have already replaced the oil pressure sensor, but the problem is still there. My mechanic says it might be a spun bearing, because there was metal dust in the oil filter. However, there is no knocking or rattling noise from the engine. It runs smooth, no obvious signs of bearing failure. The car is running on 5W-30 oil, recently changed. Do you think this is really a bearing issue? Or could it be the oil pump, or something else causing low oil pressure only when hot and under low RPM? |
