Smile It's Here...

Well, today was delivery day. What a beauty! Thought I'd share some initial pics. More will follow when this puppy has had it's 7 hour Zymol next week. To be fair, dealer has done a pretty good job prepping it.

Initial thoughts - Ruby Black is a great colour. Looks black in most light conditions. When sun is out (when is that exactly?!), glows ruby red due to the Xirallic pigment. Initial photos don't really convey this as not enough sun at the time!

Merino leather - the business. Soft as a baby's derriere wrapped in silk. Worth every penny, and there were a hell of a lot of them to buy this stuff. What do they feed those southern German cows on?

Individual steering wheel - nothing comes close. Handmade - the nappa leather and walnut ring look and feel like nothing else. Wish I could have two!

Toys - not tried them all yet, but so far: Active cruise - good laugh but probably wouldn't trust it too much. DAB - great. Rear electric blind - like to see the guy's face behind me when I raise it to blank him. Lexus man didn't look impressed. TV - kids like it. The rest - bluetooth, voice, Logic7, Pro Nav... fine but need more playtime.

Oh, and the engine and handling ain't bad either.

What a beauty!

Saw a Z4 in Ruby Red at a dealer, even on a dull day you could see the red metallic sparkle

Congrats on a stunning colour combination

How much extra was the Individual package?

I went with Individual Composition 2 excl. alloy wheels, which includes individual paint, extended merino leather, steering wheel, amarone walnut interior and individual footplates. Total cost = £3625. However, subtract from this the Dakota leather option at £1295 (as you wouldn't then need it). That gives you £2330, which I then got a 14% discount on. Worth every penny. Next time I'll try for Composition 1, which gives you leather virtually everywhere!

Good spot!

Sky Sports News was on the screen at the time, but I've no idea what they were talking about.

what a great looking car you have, not seen one that colour in the flesh yet, refreshing to see a e90 335d not in m-sport guise!!

they wheels 18" or 19"

is merino the colour of the seats or type of leather or what??

also what is that thing in your front bumper?

They are the OEM 18" 162 wheels.

The attachment under the number plate is the Adaptive Cruise Radar

Doesn't Jose Merino mind his leather being nicked for your car? Thought he was a football manager :-p

Thanks for the compliments Carl. Wheels are 162s, 18". Seem to be popular with our American cousins. I like them cause you get more alloy for the buck. Merino is a type of leather. Apparently it's only sourced by BMW from Southern German cows. Why I have no idea. Take my word, it's worth the extra cash. Front bumper bulb is the active cruise, e.g. radar. You set the distance you want to be from the car in front and the system manages the distance thru brakes and accelerator. And you get to radar the dude in front.
