Best way to strip off protection?
So im getting to add some sealant/wax to my cars.
Currently I have chemical guys, Mr.pink, maxi sudsII, and glossworkz as my car washing soaps. I don't think any of these in any concentration will strip off the protection. Dawn? or ISP?

Dawn wash at a very strong dilution and Carpro Eraser after all of the polishing is done. Claying also will remove LSP's.

I just recently clayed, so I just wanted to throw some BFWD on certain areas ( like headlights and window trim maybe front bumpers and side skirts) and nattys wax on the rest of the car. Just felt like stripping what was on the car and start fresh. Looks like ill use dawn.

You can also try using an APC diluted like Optimum Power Clean mix with your car soap.
I usually use Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss at a higher dilution along with dawn to strip LSP. Also go over it again with 3:1 OPC to really make sure everything is off |

Like the others mentioned, you can used dawn or just clay the vehicle. As a matter of fact, doing both would probably be the best thing to do before putting down a fresh layer of sealant or wax.

if you are going to use these mixtures of products to strip, be sure NOT to let the wash dry on the paint. you can wash in sections and rinse thoroughly.

I just stripped some wax today and I think I let some dry today. It was cloudy out and there was no sun so I didn't realize it had dried so quick.
Just wondering what happens when you let it dry? |

It may be a safe bet to do a final polish before applying your wax anyways. That way it'll get rid of any micro-swirls or marring from the clay, as well as prep the paint to receive the wax most effectively.

I noticed some sud stains and water marks actually. Not too bad though but damn, I just created more work for myself. Two months ago I had done a full 2 step paint correction with Menz SI 1500 and Menz SF4000. That was really first time doing two step paint correction with a polisher. I guess I'll have to take out my new GG polisher that replaced my PCXP and go at it again. So this time I'm just going to do a clay a light polish with Menz SF4000. Would that be alright or do you recommend something more aggressive? |

The more you detail vehicles, you'll start to automatically know how aggressive you have to get based on the paint condition and the products you have...that'll take time and experience...

I waxed my car about a month or so ago, I wanted to strip what was left, only to put the same wax on the car. You think its necessary to strip off the same wax that is left on the car, only to put 2 coats of the same wax?

if you are only planning to rewax then it is not necessary to strip, just layer the wax. The only time it is good to strip everything off is if you are going to do paint reconditioning or sealant.

Any dish washing liquid that has a grease cutter in it will do.
